Paulo Jorge Vieira Alves (born 5 May 1981 in Maia, Porto), known as Paulo Jorge, is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Al-Ittihad (Jeddah) in Saudi Arabia, as a right midfielder.

Club career

After six seasons with second division's F.C. Maia (including loan spells with lower league teams Pedrouços A.C. and F.C. Infesta), Jorge ended up making a move to Porto's Boavista F.C. in 2005–06.

After a fantastic top flight spell at the Axadrezados ("Chequereds"), where he became a key figure leading the right flank, having scored four league goals, clubs like Valencia CF and PSV Eindhoven envied his services but, after turning down an offer from champions F.C. Porto, Jorge joined S.L. Benfica in July 2006.[1] In his first game with the Lisbon side he scored the reds only goal against AEK Athens F.C. in a pre-season 3–1 defeat, after which he started in UEFA Champions League matches against FK Austria Wien and F.C. Copenhagen.[2]

However, after having appeared sparingly for Benfica during the league campaign, Jorge was loaned to Spanish side Málaga CF, which achieved La Liga promotion in 2007–08. He shared team with countrymen Eliseu and Hélder Rosário.

In July 2008, Jorge was definitely sold, joining fellow first-divisioner C.S. Marítimo, in Madeira.[3] He scored his first goal for the new club on 4 January 2009, during a 4–1 home win against F.C. Paços de Ferreira, and spent most of the season as a right back.
